...i gotta thank Breezo for this one...
for those who don't know, Breezo is my homeboy from Auburn who happens to be musically inclined. he not only produces (for you singers and rappers out there) but he also stays up-to-date and sometimes hits that time machine thing-thing to bring some stuff to my attention...intentionally or not.

anyway, today...was my third day of class and just as uneventful as the two prior. each class is supposed to last 4 hours and so far they have averaged 30min. i wouldn't have anything to say about that, except that the class yesterday started at 9:30am and the one today started at 8:30am. so i got up that early and went to the school, which isn't far away but it's the principle, only to return home shortly thereafter. (i'm pretty sure that fairly soon i will have a post complaining about these 4 hour long classes, but for now i'll just talk about studio). i'm not sure if i'd stated before, but our studio project for the semester will be sited in the ancient city of Mardin (google pics). it looks crazy; just like thousands and thousands of stone houses on a hill. i was worried we wouldn't get to do the project because Mardin is really close to Syria and Iraq, but it should be happening. the project is an adaptive reuse of existing buildings; i think we are going to have to choose one of three locations and present a proposed idea for commercial reuse (of course my first thought was sneaker store, but we'll see). i have to choose my site today and write a proposal for tomorrow...any other suggestions? (it doesn't have to be clothes or shoes. any commercial or maybe even civic application will be fine)
oh and shout out the queen.

this has nothing to do with your blog but if you havent kept up.. our women basketball team is raw this year. 20-1.. 5 in the nation can we say?!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention. I don't think anybody will get how all the stuff in my blog is connected (including that song). I showed it to my cousin and she was like "huh?" Good luck in Mardin.
ReplyDeleteyea, i've been keeping up with it since before i left. i went to a game 2 days before i left too. the girls are doin it. i'm proud of them, and they have been working toward this since they got here my freshman year. (i haven't said this at all in the blog yet so...WAR EAGLE!)
ReplyDeleteu know that you have a way of confusing people and leaving them not knowing what to think. i don't completely get why you do people like that, but hopefully i'll get them to see things more clearly before "the words don't mean enough...". and some day they can say "saw it all played out..."
ReplyDeleteHey, i know what you mean, talking about having to go to class freakin early in the morning and then only staying there for like 15 minutes. I hate when that happens! As for your proposal, what about like a coffee shop or...a bookstore...or...AN ART GALLERY! Um...music store...toy store...that's all i got...haha
ReplyDeleteYES! finally some suggestions. haha
ReplyDeletethose are all great (well i'm not sure about the toy store, but maybe that will work too)
one that i was really think about for the top floor of one of the locations was AN ART GALLERY so we're on the same page. i appreciate it, babe
Liquor store, porn shop, or McDonalds
ReplyDeleteHmm... I'm kinda with Sierra on the book store and art gallery. How about a night club or rec center for children? Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteAmbo
aight. i'm crackin up at the liquor store, porn shop thing cus Mardin is pretty much all Muslim these days; so they can't drink and have no use for pornography.
ReplyDeletei was really thinking art gallery, but my site may not be suited for it.
i'm gonna try to roll with the book store, but i'm also gonna use some of my other ideas to fill in some of the other areas of the site.
i appreciate all the help
cutts.. why not a music store. a place to jam out.
ReplyDeleteyo Mayur, u know we're always on the same page. my proposal consists of a desert cafe, a bookstore, and a music store... all around a central courtyard that is elevated on one side to act as a stage for musical performances...
ReplyDeletei got u, sir. u know i need the music
Hurry up and get out of school my dude. I got use for you. I want to jump dat off in Huntsville. Real talk, Seriously. I need an entrepreneurial endeavor in my life
ReplyDeleteyo DP, i'm tryin to get out of school. but the way i see it, i'm in school now to practice this type of thing. that way i'll know what not to do when it comes time to do them for real.
ReplyDeletebut i got u tho.
